David Montero Crespo 8cff0b31e4 fix(boards): the other two compile sites read the Arduino FQBN too
fqbnForLanguage landed on the single-board Run path and on
compileBoardForFlash, but compileAllBoards still read BOARD_KIND_FQBN
directly — so a canvas with more than one board, or any run that goes
through the multi-board path, still refused an ESP32-C5 kit with 'no FQBN
configured' while its ESP-IDF project built fine on its own.

David Montero Crespo 87101175ce fix(boards): an overlay board could never enter ESP-IDF mode
BOARD_SUPPORTS_ESPIDF is a literal set of OSS board kinds and it gates
both the toolbar's ESP-IDF option and setBoardLanguageMode, so no overlay
board could ever be switched into ESP-IDF: loadExample called
setBoardLanguageMode(id, 'espidf') for an `languageMode: 'espidf'` gallery
example, the guard returned early, and the example opened in Arduino mode
with the toolbar saying "Arduino C++". It stayed invisible because the
backend sniffs `app_main` and compiles those sketches as pure IDF anyway —
until a board with no Arduino FQBN at all hit it, and the run died in the
browser at "No FQBN for board kind" before any request left the page.

- ProBoardDef.supportsEspIdf registers the kind into BOARD_SUPPORTS_ESPIDF,
the same way supportsMicroPython already did for MicroPython.
- ProBoardDef.espidfFqbn + BOARD_KIND_ESPIDF_FQBN + fqbnForLanguage give the
IDF lane a target for a board whose Arduino FQBN is null (the ESP32-C5
kits: no arduino-esp32 core supports the C5, and the backend refuses that
target for Arduino on purpose, but idf.py builds it fine). Both compile
sites resolve through it instead of reading BOARD_KIND_FQBN directly.
- The language select shows when EITHER alternative mode exists (the P4 is
ESP-IDF but not MicroPython, so it had no select at all), hides options
the board does not support, and hides Arduino for a board with no FQBN.
- addBoard no longer seeds an Arduino-less board into 'arduino', where it
could never compile and the select would show a value it does not carry.

Regression test: overlay-espidf-mode.test.ts.

David Montero Crespo d64b679604 feat(firmware): say why an uploaded binary cannot find any network (#270)
A Visuino-built `Generated.ino.merged.bin` was reported as failing to run in
Velxio. It runs fine. The screenshot shows the ESP32 bootloader completing and
the sketch executing; what it also shows is

    [E][STA.cpp:357] connect(): STA connect failed! 0x300a: ESP_ERR_WIFI_SSID
[W][WiFiGeneric.cpp:900] setTxPower(): Neither AP or STA has been started

which is WiFi association, not firmware loading — and reads as "the emulator is
broken" to someone who has no reason to know the difference.

The emulated radio broadcasts four networks and nothing else: Velxio-GUEST,
PICSimLabWifi, Espressif, MasseyWifi, all open. Sketches compiled here never
have to know, because espidf_compiler rewrites their SSID literal on the way to
the emulator. Firmware that arrives already built skips that step by
construction — there is no compile to rewrite anything — so it hunts for the
network it was built for and never finds it.

Confirmed on the real emulator rather than reasoned about: the same sketch
built with SSID "MyHomeNet" reports FAILED, and with "Velxio-GUEST" connects on
192.168.4.x. Same board, same path, only the string differs.

So the upload path now reads the image and, when it carries the Arduino WiFi
stack but names none of the reachable networks, prints one line saying which
networks exist and why a compiled-elsewhere binary cannot be fixed up
automatically. When the image already names one it says nothing: a note nobody
needs is noise, and noise is how people learn to ignore the console. The
markers are deliberately narrow for the same reason — `esp_wifi` alone appears
in images that never touch the radio.

The SSID list moves to EMULATED_WIFI_SSIDS in types/board.ts. It was written by
hand inside the MicroPython prelude string, and a second hand-written copy is
precisely what #268 was made of.

Not closed by this: the reporter's exact error is ESP_ERR_WIFI_SSID from
esp_wifi_connect, meaning the SSID handed to the stack was invalid rather than
merely absent from the air — forcing an empty SSID here produces a different
message from a different line (STA.cpp:387, "SSID too long or missing!"). That
may be his Visuino configuration or his core version; it needs his binary to
tell, which he offered to send.

David Montero Crespo adb3180ac4 fix(project): export the board you actually have, import the board the file names (#268)
Export a project to .zip, start a new project, import the zip: the circuit
comes back and the board does not. Two reporters; the second noticed it "only
works with wokwi components", which is the shape of it — the passives are real
Wokwi part types and survive, the board was not one.

The bug was in the EXPORT, not the import. wokwiZip knew four boards and wrote
`wokwi-arduino-uno`/`uno` for anything else, while the connections kept the
board's real canvas id. The attached repro says so in six lines: parts declare
an `uno`, connections name `esp32`.

Of those four, only two round-tripped. 'arduino-mega' was missing from the
export's board-id test, so a Mega's wires named `arduino-mega` while its part
was `mega`. 'raspberry-pi-pico' was tested against 'nano-rp2040', an id nothing
has been issued since boards became instances, and the import mapped it back to
the same dead string. Nobody noticed because the module had no tests.

"Velxio has four boards" was written down five times: two tables in the export,
one in the import, a hand-copied union in the import dispatcher, and BoardType
in the store — which setBoardType already ignored, casting to BoardKind to do
its job. All five are gone, plus BOARD_FQBN and BOARD_LABELS, two more from the
same era that nothing imported.

A board may claim a Wokwi part type only when a Wokwi element draws it. That is
not a preference: connections carry PIN NAMES, and the names a wire carries are
whatever the element on the canvas calls its pins. Those four render through
wokwi-elements, so an Uno wire says `GND.2`, `A4`, `5V` and the file opens over
there. Every other board renders through a velxio-* element with our names —
ours calls a pin `34` where Wokwi's esp32-devkit-v1 calls it `D34` — so
claiming a Wokwi board for one would produce a file that loads in Wokwi and
attaches every wire to a pin that does not exist. They travel as
`board-velxio-<kind>`, which also round-trips the overlay's kinds, runtime
strings this module cannot enumerate.

Nothing is coerced any more. An unrecognised diagram returns a null board and
says so instead of answering 'arduino-uno'; a second board in the diagram is
reported rather than dropped; wires naming a part the diagram lacks are called
out, which is what the reporter's own file now does when you import it.

Two more halves surfaced only by driving the real editor:

The board was still missing after import, because setBoardType re-kinds the
ACTIVE board and a new project has none — nothing to re-kind, so the circuit
arrived without its chip exactly as reported. The importers now add a board
when there is none, activate it (addBoard promotes but does not sync the flat
legacy fields), and retarget the wires to the id the board actually got.

And the export read `boardType`, the flat mirror, which only tracks the active
board through setActiveBoardId/setBoardType and reports every Raspberry Pi as
an 'arduino-uno' on purpose. It now reads the board itself, so the kind and the
canvas id come off one object and cannot disagree.

Adversarial review of the fix caught six more, every one reproduced.

The worst was not a loss but a corruption, and it was mine: a canvas with two
boards wrote BOTH boards' wires against the exported board's part id, because
for every non-Arduino family that id IS the first-of-kind canvas id. The second
board's components came back attached to the first board's pins — a different
circuit, from a file that was internally consistent, so nothing complained. My
first attempt at a dangling-wire warning could not see it either: it allowed
the board KIND as a defined id, which is precisely the id a second board
writes. The check now reads the raw diagram, the export leaves other boards'
wires out rather than mis-addressing them, and it says what did not travel.

The rest: isKnownBoardKind used `in`, so 'toString' and '__proto__' passed a
guard whose input comes from files people send each other; the importer's
extension list admitted only the Arduino four, so a MicroPython project came
back with an empty editor; the exporter never wrote libraries.txt though the
importer has always read it and offered to install what it finds; and the
unknown-board message claimed the circuit landed on the current board without
retargeting its wires there.

41 tests, over every board kind, which is the assertion this module never had:
it was written when Velxio had four boards and nothing failed when it grew to
thirty. Verified in a real browser through the reporter's flow — build the
circuit, File > Export, new project, import — for arduino-uno (unchanged),
arduino-mega and raspberry-pi-pico (both previously broken) and esp32/esp32-s3.
Before and after are identical in all five.

Still lossy, and out of scope here: a .zip carries one board, so a multi-board
project must be saved as .vlx to survive whole. Wire waypoints, one shade of
green, and board-level state (boardOptions, SPIFFS, languageMode) do not travel
either.

David Montero 9936d1956c flash: compile before flashing, stale-build warning, i18n dialog, entitlement seam (#207)
"Flash to real board" no longer needs a prior Compile. The menu item is
enabled for every Arduino/ESP-IDF board (MicroPython keeps its own
gating) and the Flash dialog compiles first when the board has no program
or its code changed since the last build — compiler output streams into
the dialog's console, a red build ends in an error banner there with a
"Recompile & flash" retry, and only a green build reaches the flasher.
Web Serial's port picker needs a user gesture, so the web flow asks the
overlay to grant the port at the click (new WebFlashImpl.preparePort)
before the compile that may take minutes.

Stale detection: compileBoardProgram() now records a fingerprint of the
sources + language + build options (BoardInstance.compiledSourceHash,
utils/sourceFingerprint.ts); the dialog warns and rebuilds when the live
sources differ. utils/boardCompile.ts holds the compile request builder
shared with the toolbar (same files, same options).

The whole dialog and the menu hints are translated (editor.flash.* and
editor.canvas.flashHint.* in the 9 locales); before, every string was
hard-coded English.

Entitlement seam for #207 (desktop "upload to board"): lib/proWebFlash.ts
gains installHardwareFlashGate(); OSS default allows, and when a gate
blocks, the dialog shows a paid-license panel with a "See plans" link
instead of the port picker.

David Montero Crespo c21bfca220 fix(editor): the workspace panel stacks its actions, and the toolbar stops growing a hole
Two places where the editor bar spent width on nothing.

The file explorer put its label and its buttons on one line: WORKSPACE next
to new/open/save, and every board section's name next to rename / new file /
new folder plus the status dot. Between them those set a floor under the
panel's width, and the board name — the one thing a user reads there — got
whatever was left ("M5 Cardput..." in a 150px pane). Both headers now stack:
the label owns its row, the actions sit above (board) or below (workspace),
and the status dot rides in the actions row, where it costs the name
nothing. The actions row keeps its height reserved whether or not the
buttons are showing, so hovering a section never shoves the files below it
down. Default pane width 150 -> 124px; the freed px go to the code editor.

The toolbar's center slot is a flexible spacer that pins the right icons to
the far right, and nothing renders into it (no caller passes centerSlot). So
whenever the bar had width to spare — closing the docked AI chat is exactly
that — the spacer ate it: 191px of black between Reset and Libraries on a
1600px window. Empty, it no longer grows, so the editor controls stay packed
and the surplus collects at the one boundary that already carries a divider,
in front of the canvas controls (which belong over the canvas pane).

David Montero b9f663f02e fix(editor): the toolbar strip's label collapse is measured too, and each layout is judged by its own widths
Follow-up to 534b2ff. Dropping the strip to its own bar was now measured,
but two things still produced a wrapped bar on the XIAO example at 1440
with the chat docked:

- The first collapse tier (Serial / Camera / Mic / Scope / Add / Libraries
labels -> icons) was still a fixed 1010px container query, so on the
1060px own-bar the labels stayed and the bar wrapped in two. That tier is
now the unified-toolbar--compact class, set by the same measurement:
labels on the brand row if they fit, icons on the brand row if those fit,
else the own bar — labelled if the full bar holds it, icons otherwise.
The finer tiers (board pill 905, count/zoom 835, view toggle 760/1140)
  stay as container queries.
- Each candidate layout is measured IN that layout: the zones carry their
own container queries (the view-mode toggle hides on a narrow row and
reappears on the wide bar), so a width read on the brand row said the
bar would fit when it would not.

David Montero 7fc131d4fb feat(editor): compact file explorer — less indent, smaller icons and rows, 150px default
The explorer rows carried a 26px indent plus 22px file icons, 5px vertical
padding and 12px names in a 165px pane: a lot of margin for a sidebar
whose only job is listing a handful of files, and every px of it was taken
from the code editor. Now: root files indent 16px (12px per nested level),
file icons render at 16px like the folder icon, rows are 3px/6px with an
11px name, the board header actions are 18px, and the header buttons 20px
with a title that truncates before the actions do. The pane defaults to
150px (min 100) and the account footer keeps the first name visible at that
width.

David Montero 990cced209 feat(editor): the Save button is the auto-save indicator; drop the header pill
The header rendered a "Saved" / "Unsaved changes" text pill next to the
menus whenever a project was loaded. It ate width in the one row that has
to hold the whole editor toolbar, and it duplicated a signal the Save
button in the workspace panel can carry by colour alone.

The pill is gone. FileExplorer takes the AutoSaveState and colours its Save
button: green saved, orange unsaved changes, pulsing while saving, red on
failure; grey (unchanged) with no project loaded. The tooltip carries what
the pill used to say plus the last-save time. Nine locales get the four new
strings under editor.fileExplorer with English fallbacks.

AppHeader no longer takes autoSave; EditorPage passes it to FileExplorer
instead. No pro overlay code referenced the pill or the prop.

David Montero f09489f498 fix(editor): toolbar never overlaps on a narrow bar; layout switches live in the View menu
Two things went wrong when the window was small and the AI chat docked:

1. Libraries / Output painted over the board selector. The editor zone
has min-width: max-content, but its child .editor-toolbar-wrapper is
an inline-size query container, and size containment makes it
contribute zero intrinsic width — so the floor resolved to nothing,
flexbox squeezed the zone under its buttons and the bar never got to
wrap. Containment is now off for the in-bar mount (the wrapper keeps
it for its standalone mobile mount); the two label collapses that
depended on it are re-keyed to the unified-toolbar container at the
same thresholds the canvas controls use (1010 / 905px), so the row
degrades in step and, when it truly cannot fit, wraps instead.

2. The explorer / Code / Both / Circuit segmented toggle now hides once
the shared bar is under 760px (its inline display moved to CSS so a
container query can do that). Every switch it had is a checkmarked
row in the View menu: File Explorer, and Code / Both / Circuit as a
radio group under a View mode label. explorerOpen moves from
EditorPage state into useEditorStore so the menu can read it.

David Montero 0e107fafe6 feat(editor): M5Stack section (Cardputer ADV, Core) ahead of STM32 in the starter dialog
The New Project dialog now lists an M5Stack section — M5 Cardputer ADV first,
then M5Stack Core — between ESP32 and STM32. Both kinds are overlay-registered,
so the section only renders when the overlay mounted (an OSS build shows no
empty block). Selecting a card loads the board's on-LCD hello example
(cardputer-adv-hello / m5stack-core-m5-helloworld), which also provides the
card thumbnail.

The sections builder is extracted as buildStarterSections(defs) and covered
by a unit test that pins the display order.

David Montero 941df93cb3 fix(editor): reconcile active file-group pointers; stop persisting compiledProgram
deleteFileGroup left editorStore.activeGroupId dangling at the removed
group: Monaco (and agent writes) kept editing a group compile never reads,
so a stale same-named sketch.ino shipped instead of the code on screen
(the 'leftover template Blink built for 35 minutes' failure). The pointer
now re-targets a surviving group, and compile re-points the editor when
the two pointers diverge (with a visible warning log).

compiledProgram is no longer serialised into boards_json: the firmware
blob was 99.99% of a typical ESP32 save (a bare board already ~1.04 MB),
pushing every real project against the request-size ceiling, and a
restored binary is stale the moment the code differs. Loaders still
accept it from old rows.

The Arduino section listed only Uno and Mega — Nano and Nano ESP32
existed as first-class boards (kinds, FQBNs, examples) but could only be
reached through the gallery or the board dropdown. Same for the
ESP32-CAM, which now sits in the ESP32 section next to its DevKit
sibling. The camera board's starter is the webcam demo rather than a
blink: the board exists to show the sensor, and a bare LED sketch would
be a misleading first run.

David Montero Crespo 99471d0657 feat(news): announce with a toast, open the modal only on request
Entering the editor could stack two overlays: the starter-template
dialog opened on mount, then four seconds later the "What's new" modal
landed on top of it. Two dimmed backdrops over each other, and the
smaller, *less* important surface in front — the z-indexes said it
outright, news 10000 against the starter's 9000.

The delay made it worse rather than gentler. Arriving after the user has
started reading the templates is the most disruptive moment available;
appearing instantly would at least have let them clear it before
engaging.

The rule this restores: a modal is for what BLOCKS, and an announcement
never blocks. News now slides into the corner as a toast that dims
nothing, steals no focus (role="status", polite), and retires by itself.
The full post is one click behind "Read more" — a modal the user asked
for is a categorically different thing from one thrown at them — and
stays reachable from Help ▸ What's new once the toast is gone.

Worth noting the audience argument too: the starter dialog only fires on
a PRISTINE visit, i.e. for someone brand new, and "what's new" is
meaningless without a baseline to compare against. Returning users, the
ones it is actually written for, arrive with a project loaded and never
saw the collision.

Renamed NewsModal → NewsAnnouncer: it is not a modal by default any more,
and leaving the old name would have mislead the next reader.

Strings are new keys under `news.*`, filled in for all nine locales — the
previous modal had "What's new" and "Got it" hardcoded in English.

Toast sits at z-index 8000, deliberately BELOW the starter dialog, so if
the two ever coincide again the blocking task keeps the foreground.

David Montero Crespo 28eca48168 feat(editor): session entry points in the File and Account menus
The editor menubar's Account menu hosted only the shared `user-menu`
slot, so it had no way in or out of a session: the bottom-left dropdown
renders My projects / Sign in from its own markup, which this menubar
never sees. Signed-in users had no route to their saved work from the
editor, and anonymous ones had no way to sign in without leaving it.

Declares two account-scoped command ids and adds an `optional` item flag
that HIDES a row whose command is unregistered instead of the default
"render disabled". Absence here is not "temporarily unavailable" but
"does not apply": OSS has no accounts, and in pro exactly one of the two
is meaningful at a time — a greyed-out My projects would read as broken.

My projects sits third in File, at the head of the project group rather
than tacked onto the two "new …" rows: it opens saved work, which is
what Open/Save beneath it are for.

Labels reuse header.auth.{myProjects,signIn}, already translated in all
nine locales — no new strings.

David Montero Crespo c0d3543573 feat(metrics): compiles and runs remember which gallery example they came from
useProjectStore.currentExampleId — stamped by loadExample, dropped the
moment a real project (or a blank workspace) takes over. The compile

Several boards share one FQBN (the Pimoroni RP2350 trio all compile as

request and the run event now carry board_kind — analytics only, rides
into the metric hook's extra.

David Montero Crespo 6d6d298130 fix(console): the final flush speaks in whole lines, from the real buffer
tailAfterStream sliced result.stdout at the live-buffer offset, but the
buffer interleaves stdout+stderr in arrival order while result.stdout is
stdout-only plus a joining newline — offsets never line up, so the flush
could start mid-line ('f/esptool_py && ...'). Instead, the poll loop now
emits one final onProgress(state:'done') with the completed buffer and
the existing delta logic flushes the tail perfectly aligned. tailAfterStream
is gone.

With the success-path reprint gone, the lines that land between the
final running-poll and job completion (esptool image creation, the

result.stdout past the streamed offset, noise-filtered, before the
structured analysis — skipped once the live buffer hits its 256 KB
tail-trim cap, where offsets stop lining up.

David Montero Crespo 0a868cc254 fix(console): the compile log tells the story once, without cmake's diary
ESP-IDF builds sprayed the compilation console with configure chatter
(-- cmake status, git-metadata probes that 'fatal' on the synthesized
project tree, IDF component-manager NOTEs, Python env checks) and then
reprinted the entire stdout a second time when parseCompileResult ran
over the final result after the live stream had already shown it.

- isNoiseBuildLine(): pattern list for build-system chatter, applied to
the live stream deltas and to the final-result parsing.
- parseCompileResult(streamedLive): skips the stdout reprint on success;
on failure re-emits only error/warning lines so they still get the
red/yellow markers the plain live stream lacked.

Compiler errors, FAILED blocks, ninja [N/M] progress, esptool output and
binary-size summaries all still show. The full log stays available
server-side.

David Montero Crespo 15654b664b fix(starter): the takeover cedes the agent chat's docked width
The chat reserves its width as padding-right on .app-container, but an
absolute inset-0 layer spans the padding box, so the picker's right
column and its scrollbar landed under the panel. The screen now gives
up the same width through the same CSS variable, with the same 0.12s
ease the padding uses, and falls back to zero in builds without the
overlay.

David Montero Crespo 3dd780503f ux(editor): the pristine starter picker is a screen, not a modal
A modal over a pristine /editor dims an interface that is empty anyway
and offers a Cancel whose only destination is a dead workspace. The
picker now takes over the content area (StarterScreen): no veil, no
Cancel, the grid gets the room the 840px dialog never had, and the
examples gallery link is the secondary path out. The modal stays for
"New workspace" over existing work, where the replace-everything
warning and Cancel mean something — both shells share one card grid.

The details that make the takeover behave like a page: it sits at
z-index 90 (above the canvas' floating zoom pill, below the header's
stacking context so the menu dropdowns stay clickable; the fixed
account corner box is render-gated instead), the panes underneath are
inert while it is up, focus lands on the heading on mount and parks on
the workspace container on dismissal, and any path that fills the
workspace meanwhile — the File-menu modal, Open project…, a dropped
.vlx — dismisses it rather than letting its cards silently wipe the
loaded work. Full editor.newProject i18n for all nine locales (German
in Sie-form), heading outline h1→h2 / h3→h4, token focus ring, and
reduced-motion respected.

The account options that only lived in the bottom-left user button
(subscription, licenses, simulation history, replays, privacy) are now
reachable from the header too: a new Account menu hosts the pro items via
the SAME data-velxio-slot="user-menu" the corner dropdown uses — one
overlay renderer, two hosts, empty in OSS builds. Language moves from its
own top-level trigger into a section of that menu, so the menubar stays at
five triggers and frees header room for when the AI chat docks.

David Montero Crespo da4678bb60 ux(editor): smaller starter cards, bigger blue + on Blank, Arduino Mega card
Cards drop to a 178px grid (dialog 840px) with tighter type so more
starters fit per row; the Blank card's plus glyph goes accent-blue at
64px. Arduino Mega (mega-blink) joins the Arduino section next to the
Uno. Recaptured xiao-rp2040-blink.webp now that the board art is
silk-screened "XIAO-RP2040" (was "XIAO-ESP32-C3").

David Montero Crespo 93c5c60d9c feat(editor): starter dialog v2 — circuit thumbnails, blank canvas behind, one ESP32 per chip
The starter cards now carry the same circuit thumbnails the examples
gallery uses (ExampleThumbnail → /examples-thumbs/<id>.webp with the
CircuitPreview SVG fallback): boards with a Blink example reuse its thumb,
the rest get freshly captured starter-<kind>.webp shots in the same folder
(XIAO S3/C3, Netduino 2, Pi 4/5; plus the missing xiao-esp32c6-blink and
xiao-rp2040-blink example thumbs).

The ESP32 section is now one card per chip generation with the Seeed XIAO
variant preferred (DevKit V1 / XIAO S3 / XIAO C3 / XIAO C6), and XIAO
RP2040 joins the Raspberry Pi section — replacing the previous
every-variant list and the separate XIAO section.

Fixes: a pristine /editor visit clears the hardcoded Uno starter BEFORE
showing the dialog (empty canvas behind; cancel now leaves a blank
workspace), and clearing the last board re-points the editor at a
nonexistent group so Monaco no longer keeps showing the deleted board's
sketch (removeBoard only re-points when another board remains).

David Montero Crespo 3bcb8d518e feat(editor): starter-template picker on pristine /editor and New workspace
New NewProjectDialog: a bare /editor visit (and the New workspace button)
offers a blank workspace or a ready-to-run Blink starter per board family
instead of silently dropping the user into the hardcoded Uno + LED starter.
Boards with a gallery Blink example load it fully wired; the rest get a
fresh board with the on-board-LED sketch. Pro-gated boards carry the PRO
pill and go through the boardGateDecision seam. Shows once per page load;
en/es strings (the other locales fall back to English for now).

David Montero Crespo c9fe6f199d feat(editor): folders - create/delete folder trees in the file explorer
File names may now carry '/' paths; the explorer renders each board group
as a collapsible folder tree (folders first, files in group order, CSS-var
indentation because .fe-file-item pins padding with !important). New-folder
buttons on the board header and per-folder hover actions (new file here,
new subfolder, delete with confirm when files are inside; a folder holding
every file of the group cannot be deleted - groups keep >= 1 file).

Model: names are the source of truth; only EMPTY folders are tracked
(folderGroups per group) so they survive until a file lands in them, then
materialise into the name prefix. Round-trips through .vlx (optional
folderGroups field, laxly validated), the auth stash draft, and
loadProjectState. Examples gain boards[].files so a single board can ship
a full multi-file tree (first entry = main sketch).

Backend: the arduino-cli sketch writer now creates subdirectories for
'/'-pathed names and REJECTS names that resolve outside the sketch dir
('..' traversal) - previously it crashed on the former and wrote outside
the tmp dir on the latter.

David Montero cd67362312 feat(libraries): manifest auto-migration + name-affinity ranking + install-declares
Three-part fix for the library-contamination class of ESP32 compile
failures (a user's project kept pulling unrelated libraries because 79%
of projects compile with an empty manifest, forcing scan-all resolution
over ~1000 shared libraries):

1. Name-affinity ranking in _find_library_for_header: the provider whose
name matches the header stem wins (exact normalized match > esp32
arch declaration > contains-stem, alphabetical only as tie-break).
Previously first-alphabetical won, so any stray library shipping a
generic header (Servo.h has 6 providers) could hijack the build.

2. Manifest auto-migration: scan-all compiles now report the libraries
the build really used (manifest_incomplete +
manifest_suggested_libraries on the compile result); the editor folds
single-candidate suggestions into the board's declared manifest after
a green build, so the NEXT compile runs scoped. One green build = one
migrated project; empty-manifest scan-all behaviour is untouched.

3. Install-declares: the Wokwi import library modal records successful
installs in the active board's manifest, and .vlx export/import now
   round-trips board.libraries.

Tests: test_espidf_library_ranking.py (9) + library-manifest.test.ts (19).

David Montero Crespo e9053f73fe ui(editor): one control height and one blue across the toolbar strip
Every control in the unified strip is now 28px tall: tb-btn (was 30),
Libraries (was 26), the C++/MicroPython select (was ~22), the board
selector, Serial/Scope, canvas icon buttons, zoom and Add (all were 32).
The explorer toggle moves inside the Code/Both/Circuit segmented group
as its first segment, and every active-segment blue is the Libraries
blue (var(--color-action-primary)) instead of the hardcoded #0e639c.

The editor zone's overlap floor becomes min-width: max-content — the
hardcoded 280px sat below the real content width, letting the console
button paint over the board selector when the docked chat narrowed the
bar. Now the zone can never shrink under its buttons; flex-wrap moves
the canvas controls to a second line instead. Also closes the gap
between the logo and the File menu (header gap 16->6, menubar
margin-left 14->2).

David Montero Crespo db632832b4 i18n(editor): translate the new menubar in all nine locales
Every menu we added lived on t() English fallbacks — the keys did not
exist in ANY locale file, so a Spanish or Chinese user got an English
menubar. 29 keys (editor.menu.* + the toolbar labels the File menu
reuses) now exist in en/es/pt-br/it/fr/zh-cn/de/ja/ru.

Two entries needed their own leaf keys: editor.toolbar.compile and .run
are nested OBJECTS (title/options/... sub-keys), so t() on them cannot
resolve to a string — the menu now uses editor.menu.compile / .run,
which also avoids double shortcuts ("Compile (Ctrl+B)" plus the menu's
own Ctrl+B column).

Verified mechanically: all 38 keys the menubar references resolve to
strings in all nine locales.

David Montero Crespo d233b66cc9 feat(editor): View and Language menus — full desktop-menu parity
The menubar now matches the desktop app's native menu set: File, Edit,
View, Language, Help.

View collects what the user asked to reach from a menu: Compile (Ctrl+B),
Run, Stop, Reset up top; the panel toggles — File Explorer, Output
Console, Serial Monitor, Oscilloscope/Logic Analyzer — in the middle
(store-backed ones render a live check, like a real desktop menu); and
the canvas view actions (center, zoom) move here from Edit, which goes
back to being undo/redo only, as menus have always worked.

Language lists the nine locales with the current one checked, switching
through the same switchLocale path the header globe uses — so language is
reachable from the menubar regardless of the account state, on top of
living in the signed-in account menu.

Run/Stop/Compile/Reset and the console toggle register through the
editorCommands seam from EditorToolbar (their handlers close over its
state); the explorer toggle from EditorPage; serial and scope call their
stores directly, same as undo/redo.

David Montero Crespo 8868a3c585 feat(editor): fold the "..." menu into File — with its PRO pills
The toolbar's overflow button held four leftovers (Share/Embed, Sync to
GitHub, Upload firmware, Record simulation). They move into the File
menu, which is where a session-frequency action belongs, and the strip
loses one more button. The PRO pill travels with them — same style the
overflow used (now .emb-pro) — and the two File items that were always
premium (BOM, schematic image) finally show it too: users should know an
item is premium BEFORE clicking, not via a surprise upgrade prompt.

The pro actions keep firing the same window events the overflow items
fired (share/github-sync/record prompts), so the overlay's listeners are
untouched and OSS builds keep their silent no-op. Dead overflow CSS
removed with the button.

David Montero Crespo b70bb8ab83 refactor(routes): OSS is the editor; marketing moves to the overlay
The open-source build now ships exactly its product surface: /editor, the
examples gallery (/examples, /examples/:id) and the per-example editor
(/example/:id). Landing, about, pricing, docs, the 14 keyword-targeted
simulator landings and the v2/v2.5/v3 showcases move to the private
overlay, registered through the same registerProRoutes seam that already
carries login/admin/classroom.

Root behaves per build: an overlay that registers an index route claims
'/' (velxio.dev keeps its landing); otherwise '/' redirects to /editor.
The redirect waits for the overlay import to settle — same contract as
markProExamplesSettled — so a velxio.dev visitor is never bounced into
the editor because the landing was 300ms away from registering.

Prerender and sitemap follow the split: entry-server pulls the marketing
page map from '@pro/pages/marketing' behind a VITE_PRO_BUILD-gated dynamic
import (the proven main.tsx pattern, with an OSS stub for tsc), and
generate-sitemap lists only served routes in OSS builds (2 URLs) while
pro builds stay byte-identical — verified against a pre-migration
baseline: sitemap (37 URLs) and prerendered /, /about, /docs,
/arduino-simulator, /esp32-simulator, /v3 all identical modulo hashed
asset names. OSS prerender drops exactly the 32 marketing pages (348→316).

The OSS header slims down to match: Editor, Examples, GitHub, Discord —
the marketing links only render in pro builds, where their routes exist.
The editor Help menu links those pages absolutely (velxio.dev) in OSS,
exactly like the desktop app's Help menu.

(pro/desktop menu.rs): Documentation, Examples, Pricing | Velxio Home,
Blog, About Velxio | Discord Community, GitHub Repository.

solapan — medido, no impresion: a 1024px Code/Both/Circuit pisaban a

File: nuevo
workspace, nuevo fichero, abrir, guardar, importar, exportar, BOM,

David Montero Crespo b622cad80a feat(metrics): run events carry which engine served them
Without this we cannot tell whether the in-browser path is actually
displacing guest boots — the whole point of the dual engine is a number
(% of runs that never touched the backend), so the event has to say.

David Montero Crespo 7da01c6a91 fix(toolbar): Run follows the disabled-while-running convention on QEMU-Linux boards; Reset is the fast re-run
Keeping Play enabled while the guest ran broke the convention every
other board follows (owner report). Run now disables as usual; RESET on
a booted guest re-uploads the edited files and re-runs the script
without the ~45 s reboot, matching Reset's restart-the-program meaning.

David Montero Crespo bbafe66ee7 feat(pi-family): unified editor UX — Monaco + explorer + bottom xterm, one file surface
QEMU-Linux boards used three competing file surfaces (workspace group
with a meaningless sketch.ino/libraries.json, the VFS panel with its
Upload button, and the Pi workspace's own editor). Now they behave like
every other board:

- the editor file group defaults to script.py for ANY Pi-family kind
(kind-based check via isPiBoardKind, not the old raspberry-pi- string)
- the libraries.json manifest row is hidden for Pi boards
- EditorPage always renders Monaco; the RaspberryPiWorkspace swap is
  gone
- the bottom serial panel renders the interactive xterm (PiTerminal,
now seeded with session history) for running Pi boards
- example vfsFiles load into the editor group (single source of truth);
the run path uploads the group into the guest home
- Run on a booted guest re-runs without the 45 s reboot (Ctrl-C +
re-upload + run); starting a Pi board pops the terminal open
- piSyncAndRunScript/piRerunScript exported from the store; auto-run
now applies to the whole family (guestHome/autoRun overridable)

David Montero Crespo 55dd25eeba feat(pi-family): guestSetup seam + board-branded workspace texts
Overlay QEMU-Linux boards are not Raspberry Pis: ProBoardDef.guestSetup
lets a board send one shell line at the boot prompt (hostname/PS1/clear)
to de-brand the generic image, sent before piBooted flips so uploads
cannot interleave; the workspace start button and power-on title carry
the board's own label for non raspberry-pi kinds; the compile console
line uses the board label instead of 'Raspberry Pi 3B'.
2026-07-28 14:36:13 +02:00
David Montero Crespo 7bb54e8d32 fix(toolbar): Run on QEMU-Linux boards boots directly — no bogus firmware error
The QEMU branch of handleRun required compiledProgram, but Pi-family
boards never have one (handleCompile early-returns 'no compilation
needed' without producing firmware), so the toolbar Run always surfaced
'Compilation produced no firmware' instead of powering the board on.
Start them directly, same as the workspace Start button.

Verificado: backend 293 pasan / 0 fallan (v3.2 traia 7 rotos); frontend 2268
pasan / 0 fallan en los dos shards.

David Montero 734b7d0487 feat(esp32): pure ESP-IDF language mode for the ESP32 family (#139)
Adds a third entry to the board language selector next to Arduino C++
and MicroPython: ESP-IDF. In this mode the user writes a plain ESP-IDF
project — app_main() entry point, FreeRTOS + driver APIs — and the
backend compiles it through the same ESP-IDF toolchain it already uses
for ESP32 Arduino sketches, just without the arduino-esp32 component.

Backend:
- CompileRequest.language ('espidf') threaded through the sync + async
compile paths and folded into the dedup job key (language='arduino'
and omitted hash identically so old clients keep dedupping).
- espidf_compiler: pure_idf flag. User files are written into main/
as-is (no Arduino.h wrap, no velxio_compat.h, Arduino library
resolution skipped), ARDUINO_ESP32_PATH is dropped from the build env
and VELXIO_PURE_SKETCH raised so the template CMake compiles the
user's own sources via a glob branch. Pure builds get their own
persistent build-dir variant through the eff_hash fold.
- QEMU WiFi compat for IDF-style code: esp_wifi.h/esp_wifi_init
detection sets has_wifi, and literal #define SSID/PASS plus
wifi_config_t designated initializers are normalized to the QEMU AP.
- CONFIG_ARDUINO_* lines are stripped from sdkconfig.defaults in pure
mode (the symbols don't exist without the arduino component).

Frontend:
- LanguageMode gains 'espidf'; BOARD_SUPPORTS_ESPIDF covers the ESP32
family (Xtensa, S3, C3). Toolbar shows the option only for those.
- Switching modes seeds a main.c blink skeleton (app_main + gpio
driver), mirroring the MicroPython main.py flow.
- compileCode sends language='espidf'; run/stop paths are unchanged
(the QEMU worker consumes the same merged flash image).
- New gallery example: esp32-idf-blink (LED + resistor on GPIO 2).

Tests: unit coverage for the build-env switch, IDF wifi normalization,
job-key variance, file-group seeding and the new example; verified
end-to-end in a container from the prod image (pure build produces a
bootable flash image; Arduino-mode build unchanged, same variant hash).
