chore(oss): drop dead auth/DB dependencies from OSS image
After Phase 4 of the OSS / pro split, the OSS code base imports zero
auth/DB modules (verified with grep across backend/app/). But the
requirements.txt + config.py + .env.example + docs still listed
SQLAlchemy, aiosqlite, JWT/bcrypt, OAuth, SECRET_KEY etc. as if they
were live. Self-hosters running `pip install -r requirements.txt`
were pulling ~30 MB of packages the code never imports.
Changes:
* backend/requirements.txt — drop sqlalchemy, greenlet, aiosqlite,
python-jose, passlib[bcrypt], bcrypt, authlib, email-validator,
python-multipart. Keep fastapi, uvicorn, websockets, pydantic,
pydantic-settings, httpx, mcp, esptool, wasmtime — everything OSS
actually uses.
* backend/app/core/config.py — Settings reduced to FRONTEND_URL only.
Comment explains the overlay path that adds the rest at Docker
build time.
* backend/.env.example — same trim: only FRONTEND_URL, with a comment
explaining why this file is almost empty.
* README.md — "Auth & Project Persistence" section rewritten to
describe .vlx export/import. Env-var table reduced to a single row.
Stack table updated: no SQLAlchemy, no JWT, persistence = .vlx
files.
* CLAUDE.md — intro line updated (Auth: None, persistence: .vlx).
Key-file-locations rewritten to list the OSS-stateless backend +
the new lib/proRoutes / proSession / proSaveAction seams, with an
explicit "removed in the split" note pointing to velxio-prod.

refactor: rename wokwi-libs/ → third-party/
The directory grew well beyond Wokwi-only contents: it now hosts
lcgamboa's QEMU fork (qemu-lcgamboa), Espressif's esp32-camera, the
ngspice WASM build, fritzing-parts, picowi, an alternative QEMU
(qemu-esp32), the 100_Days_100_IoT_Projects examples repo, and
Wokwi's own avr8js/rp2040js/wokwi-elements/wokwi-features/wokwi-boards.
"wokwi-libs" was misleading — half the contents have nothing to do
with Wokwi. "third-party/" is the standard convention for vendored
external dependencies.

docs/WOKWI_LIBS.md → docs/THIRD_PARTY.md

.dockerignore, .idea/vcs.xml. Bulk replaced both `wokwi-libs/`
(path) and bare `wokwi-libs` (textual mentions in docs/comments).
Verified:
- npx tsc -b --noEmit produces no new errors related to these paths
- vite.config.ts aliases now point at ../third-party/avr8js etc.
- All 4 git submodules (avr8js, rp2040js, wokwi-elements,
wokwi-features) are linked under third-party/ with their
worktrees re-populated and config files referencing the new path
- `grep -r wokwi-libs` returns zero hits outside node_modules,
.vite, frontend/dist, third-party/ (upstream submodule contents),

The folders under `third-party/` are reference-only (credits / offline

**Bump a wokwi lib version:** edit the version string in
`frontend/package.json` and run `npm install` in `frontend/` .
**Adding new components to wokwi-elements:** the metadata generator
(`scripts/generate-component-metadata.ts`) scans the upstream `src/` ,
which the npm package doesn't ship. Clone wokwi-elements once into
`third-party/wokwi-elements/` and run `npm run generate:metadata` . The
script gracefully skips when the clone is absent — `components-metadata.json`
is committed.

some Python builds — caused uvicorn startup failures on WSL).
Wokwi libs come from npm:
- @wokwi/elements 1.9.2, avr8js 0.21.0, rp2040js 1.3.2 are pinned in
frontend/package.json. Vite aliases removed.
- Dockerfile.standalone no longer clones avr8js / rp2040js / wokwi-elements
/ wokwi-boards. Frontend stage is just COPY + npm install + build:docker.
- Board SVGs vendored under frontend/public/boards/ (10 deduped against
existing files, 2 truly new). third-party/wokwi-* clones become reference-
only credits — generate-component-metadata.ts skips gracefully when absent.
Production config split out:
- docker-compose.prod.yml, deploy/nginx.prod.conf, nginx-host-velxio*.conf,
update-third-party.bat removed. Production deployment lives in its own
repo: https://github.com/velxio/velxio-prod (host nginx + HTTPS + backups
+ pinned upstream commit).
Verified locally: 1161 frontend tests pass, build:docker completes clean.

### 1. AVR Instruction Execution
The simulation **must call both** `avrInstruction()` and `cpu.tick()` in the execution loop:

### 6a. Boards/components MUST be Web Components, not React SVG ⚠️
The wire system reads pin coordinates via `element.pinInfo` from the rendered
DOM node (`frontend/src/utils/pinPositionCalculator.ts:38`). This **only**
works for real DOM custom elements (Web Components) — a plain React `<svg>`
component has no `pinInfo` , so every wire endpoint silently falls back to
`(0, 0)` of the board and visually attaches to the **corner** instead of the
pin. The user has reported this exact symptom multiple times.
**Rule:** any board or component that needs wire connections must be a Web
Component (`class Foo extends HTMLElement`) with a `pinInfo` getter. The
React `.tsx` file is a thin wrapper.
Reference implementations:

array. The generator copies them verbatim into the output and they
survive every regeneration.
For wokwi-elements-derived components that need a richer UI control
(e.g. LED color → dropdown, SSD1306 protocol → I2C/SPI selector), add a
keyed entry under the same file with `properties` + `defaultValues`
patches (see `docs/wiki/component-metadata-generator.md` ).
To regenerate after editing the override file:

There are known pre-existing TS errors that do NOT block the app from running:

- Test mock type mismatches in `AVRSimulator.test.ts`

`Dockerfile.standalone` does NOT clone any wokwi-* repos. The frontend stage
just does `COPY frontend/ scripts/` then `npm install && npm run build:docker` ,
which pulls `@wokwi/elements` , `avr8js` , `rp2040js` from npm. Board SVGs live
in `frontend/public/boards/` , component SVGs in `frontend/public/component-svgs/` ,
and `components-metadata.json` is committed.

### Debugging Simulation Issues
Common issues:
- **LED doesn't blink**: Check port listeners are firing (console logs), verify pin mapping
- **Compilation fails**: Check arduino-cli is in PATH, verify `arduino:avr` core is installed
- **CPU stuck at PC=0**: Ensure `avrInstruction()` is being called in execution loop
- **Wire positions wrong**: Check `calculatePinPosition()` uses correct component coordinates
Enable verbose logging:
- AVRSimulator logs port changes and CPU state every 60 frames
- Backend logs all compilation steps and arduino-cli output

chore(oss): drop dead auth/DB dependencies from OSS image
After Phase 4 of the OSS / pro split, the OSS code base imports zero
auth/DB modules (verified with grep across backend/app/). But the
requirements.txt + config.py + .env.example + docs still listed
SQLAlchemy, aiosqlite, JWT/bcrypt, OAuth, SECRET_KEY etc. as if they
were live. Self-hosters running `pip install -r requirements.txt`
were pulling ~30 MB of packages the code never imports.
Changes:
* backend/requirements.txt — drop sqlalchemy, greenlet, aiosqlite,
python-jose, passlib[bcrypt], bcrypt, authlib, email-validator,
python-multipart. Keep fastapi, uvicorn, websockets, pydantic,
pydantic-settings, httpx, mcp, esptool, wasmtime — everything OSS
actually uses.
* backend/app/core/config.py — Settings reduced to FRONTEND_URL only.
Comment explains the overlay path that adds the rest at Docker
build time.
* backend/.env.example — same trim: only FRONTEND_URL, with a comment
explaining why this file is almost empty.
* README.md — "Auth & Project Persistence" section rewritten to
describe .vlx export/import. Env-var table reduced to a single row.
Stack table updated: no SQLAlchemy, no JWT, persistence = .vlx
files.
* CLAUDE.md — intro line updated (Auth: None, persistence: .vlx).
Key-file-locations rewritten to list the OSS-stateless backend +
the new lib/proRoutes / proSession / proSaveAction seams, with an
explicit "removed in the split" note pointing to velxio-prod.
Stores section drops useAuthStore (overlay-only now). Backend
gotchas drop the bcrypt + email-validator + model-import notes.
Implemented-features list replaces "Auth + URL persistence + user
profile" with portable .vlx export/import.
* docs/ESP32_EMULATION.md — two `docker run` examples dropped the
`-e SECRET_KEY=...` arg (no longer needed).

feat: electrical simulation via ngspice-WASM (eecircuit-engine)
Adds full SPICE-accurate electrical simulation to Velxio, behind a lazy-
loaded ⚡ toolbar toggle. Arduino / ESP32 / RP2040 sketches now co-simulate
with real analog behaviour: correct voltages on wires, real I–V curves on
LEDs, working potentiometers, NTC thermistors read by analogRead(), PWM
driving RC filters, transistors, op-amps, diodes, MOSFETs, etc.
Engine: eecircuit-engine (ngspice compiled to WebAssembly). Main bundle
stays at 2.4 MB; the 20 MB SPICE chunk only loads when the user activates
electrical mode. Disabled at build time via VITE_ELECTRICAL_SIM=false.
Frontend additions:
- simulation/spice/: SpiceEngine wrapper + lazy entry, NetlistBuilder with
UnionFind over wires, componentToSpice mapping (24 metadataIds incl.
real part numbers: 2N2222, 2N3055, BC547, IRF540, 2N7000, 1N4148,
1N4007, 1N4733, LEDs, NTC, op-amp ideal), CircuitScheduler with
debounced coalescing, AVRSpiceBridge for quasi-static co-simulation.
- store/useElectricalStore: Zustand slice, feature-flag aware.
- components/analog-ui/: ⚡ toolbar toggle + SVG voltage overlay.
- components/components-instruments/: Voltmeter, Ammeter probes.
- 62 tests (spice-*, netlist-builder, component-to-spice, instruments).
Sandbox (test/test_circuit/): 47-test validation sandbox that proved
the approach (hand-rolled MNA baseline + ngspice pipeline) before
porting to the app. Kept as reference.
